Dear Members and Supporters,
There are exciting changes happening at Safe Animal Shelter!
The purpose of this communication is two-fold. First, Safe Animal Shelter Board of Directors wishes to thank you for your continued support to ensure the safety and welfare of our cats and dogs while they await adoption into FURever homes. Safe Animal Shelter will continue to be a no-kill shelter, rest assured that our mission remains the same:
To provide a temporary safe haven for abused, abandoned, lost and unwanted cats and dogs until adopted into a permanent home and to advocate spay/neuter as the only means to control animal over population.
Secondly, the board wishes to inform you of ongoing changes in operations to improve the placement of our furry friends into FURever homes. The newly elected board assumed duties in late 2011. Immediately thereafter the board began a detailed analysis of operations utilizing Safe Animal Shelter's mission statement as our guide. During this comprehensive mission analysis, it has been determined that there is a need for increased safety measures and the development of an organizational revitalization plan. The goal is to build a stronger and lasting shelter that serves both the 4-legged and 2-legged friends in our community.
In order to improve and serve our mission, the board has developed new policies and procedures to increase adoptions, improve our customer service, provide a safer environment for our guests as well as for the shelter animals, and provide a better temporary home for the animals in our care. To this end it has been necessary to recruit new top notch personnel into vacant key positions. The current staff are, without a doubt, the most dedicated and devoted folks in the animal welfare industry.
Finally, the board wishes to reach out to our Members and Supporters to reassure you that the welfare of the cats and dogs will always remain our number one priority. We need your continued support during this transition and moving forward. We invite you to visit the shelter often to see for yourself the positive changes which are taking place.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Dawes
President, Board of Directors
