Board Openings: We have openings on our Board of Directors for qualified individuals. If you would like to be considered, please submit a brief statement of your qualifications and the reason you would like to serve. Commitment and time to help out is essential. Please let any board member know or send by e-mail to:admin@safeanimalshelter.com.

CAT LOVERS NEEDED FOR FOSTER CARE!  Kittens need love and socialization, a healthy environment and proper medical care.  Safe Animal Shelter will provide all medical care (generously donated by veterinarians in Clay County) until the cat or kitten is ready for adoption.  All you have to do is provide a safe and loving temporary home, no strings attached.  By working together, we can help a lot of animals in the community who just don't have a chance otherwise.  Pet overpopulation and homelessness is a community problem.  Let's work together to end it!  For more info on our foster care program, please contact Stacey Schomburger at 904-276-7233 or email her at staceyandgary@hotmail.com.

VOLUNTEER any day you want! There are many places to serve. Monthly orientations are held for new volunteers to get acquainted and learn the ropes. The cats and dogs will really make this a special and rewarding experience for you.
We're open for staff & volunteers Monday - Saturday from 8:00 A.M. To 5:00 P.M. and
Sundays from 8:00 A.M. until early afternoon. Public hours are 11:00 A.M. until 5:00 P.M. daily except for Thursday and Sunday which are closed all day to the public.

Volunteers are needed for the following tasks:

  1. Fundraising (really need help from a Grant Writer!)
  2. Foster Care
  3. Clerical/Telephone Work
  4. Transporting Animals to Vet
  5. Adoptions & Office Work
  6. Cleaning Shelter (all areas, including kennels, cattery and quarantine)
  7. Bathing of dogs (especially Friday afternoon and Saturday morning)
  8. Walking of Dogs
  9. Socialization of cats
  10. Adoptions At PetsMart

    There are many ways that you can volunteer. Give us a call - we can find something to suit you!
